Little Me

Nothing really new is happening right now down here in the Grove, but I feel I need to post something because I haven't done so in a while.

The weather is slowly getting cooler here. This morning I wore a sweater to the park for the first time. Last week it was over 30 degress celisus, so sweater weather is a big change. The leaves haven't started turning yet so everything is still green. I'm sure now that it's getting cooler and there is threat of rain, the leaves will start changing colour. Forest Grove is really beautiful in the fall with all the different kinds of trees and all the colours. I'll post some pictures when that starts happening.

I found some fun pictures and thought I'd share:
That's me in the middle with my brothers. I think it was Travis's birthday here. He's probably 3 or 4. I always liked to help out with the birthday parties and such and it looks like we got to decorate our own crowns!

This is my sister, and me as a baby. Aren't I cute! I was bald for 2 or 3 years and was so glad when Lizzy grew enough hair for ponytails (well, very small ponytails) by her first birthday, and didn't take too much after me.

So hooray for the blast from the past, and hopefully I'll have something interest to post in the near future.

Adoptive Parents

I have some really great friends, Tiffany and Kent, who are looking to adopt a baby. If you know someone who is looking for adoptive parents, have them look at Tiffany and Kent's profile here.

It's a great profile with lots of information, so please take a look! I will also put this link on the side of my blog for a more permanent placing.

They are a great couple and will be great parents!

Phantom of the Opera

For our fourth anniversary, Adam surprised me with tickets to the Phantom of the Opera in Portland. It was wonderful! I knew the story and the music, but this is the first time I saw it on stage. The costumes and sets were absolutely fabulous and the actor who played the Phantom did a superb job. We had pretty good seats and had no trouble seeing the stage and really enjoyed the play. Afterwards we went out for dinner to the Olive Garden, one of our favourite restaurants. Overall we had a fabulous time celebrating our anniversary!

Go-karts and Mini Golf!

When we were in Canada this summer we got to spend a really fun day with my parents playing mini golf and driving go-karts. It was a lot of fun that day and really hot!!

Lizzy really wanted to drive, but was too little! She got to sit in the go-kart anyway.

Lizzy loved playing golf ("Just like daddy!).

We all had a blast!

Summer Fun

We spent a few weeks with our families this summer (most of August) and had a blast swimming in the lake, the river and the outdoor pool. Lizzy loves the water and her new life jacket. Here are some fun pictures from our travels.

Lizzy just loving her Daddy!

Potty Party

So recently Lizzy has been having some trouble with pooping on the potty. She goes pee really well, but she decided that pooping is scary or something. We tried everything to persuade her to go "number 2" and finally ended up bribing her with a toy and cake. So, Lizzy and I went to the store to pick out her very first Barbie doll. She picked the Cinderella Barbie with the beautiful dress. We brought it home and put it on display, trying to encourage her to poop. We told her that when she poops on the potty she could have her Barbie. She really seemed to like the idea, but the execution was difficult, to say the least.

So a few weeks ago, she finally went poop on the potty by herself. I was ecstatic! We had a Potty Party with cake and icecream and she got to finally open her Cinderella doll.

That was quite an accomplishment!

She's still having trouble, but at least the worst part is over (I hope!).

In Memory of Thomas Wheadon

Sorry I haven't blogged, but a lot has come up. Adam and I are on holiday visiting our families in Canada. Also Adam's grandfather, Thomas Wheadon, passed away this week at the age of 88. His funeral is this Saturday. He lived a wonderful life and was a good man. We were lucky that we got to visit with him the day he passed and he was able to recognize us and even smiled at Lizzy. He was sick for a long time and living in a care-home since December and breathing with the help of oxygen.

Here is Grandpa (making a funny face) with his wife of 59 years. He had quite a sense of humour!

We love Grandpa and know that he is now at peace.
